What Charity will collect clothes for third world?
scribble_kat asked:
Ok, due to the recent-ish deaths of 3 elderly family members, we have over 40 bin liners of old but good quality, good condition clothes. Its way too many to drop at a charity shop in one go, so I was wondering if any one here knows any legitimate charities that can either collect or have a depot/drop off point, in the nth london/hertfordshire area? We do get leafleted by these fraudulent guys, but I want the clothes to be genuinely used by people who need them for FREE, or recycled to make money for the charity.

How about contacting your local or favourite charity and see if they will make a special collection of everything from you in one go? If the items are of good quality and in good condition most charity shops will accept them with open arms. Take a look at your Yellow Pages (www.yell.com) and ring around a few. Otherwise how about a local school or church for their jumble sale? Good luck.

Take a few short trips to your local clothing bank. They are near supermarkets & shops. All the clothing is sent to third world countries and as no shops are involved they can keep their company fees low as they don’t pay overheads like insurance/electricity/water/rates etc
I would think….SHELTER.
The British red cross have a large number of shops and if you contact them they could probably pick them up to distribute among there shops. They are always were the problems are including third world.
Oxfam will use them to make money for charity….just drop the clothes off into your local Oxfam shop, and they’ll do the rest! :)
send then to oxfam they always want somthing
p,s im sorry to here of ur losses
