Neda asked:
I am interested in start a charity organizations that offers humantarian servces to those in need around the world. This charity would be headquartered in Mi. I however would like to hold fundraisers nationally and hoperfully internationally one day.
Can anyone offer some directions as to where to start and the legal requirements.
I absolutely would not be doing it for fame. My intentions are purely to offer those in need around the world a chance.

Both these sites will explain all the legal in’s and out’s of starting your own charity:
Best wishes to you!
This is a just the question i have been wanting to ask, but wasn’t sure i could on YA. Thanks for asking!!! If my dream comes true to helping sick people, it sure wouldn’t be for FAME. I keep to myself. I wouldn’t want to be under a spotlight. Far from it. If we can get to the place where my husband can get the treatment, we want to help others with the same condition. There are some people who are genuine!!!!!!!
There is no dearth of sick/poor in this world. If u r really interested in this or for fame.O.K if u r then ley us join to help. It’s an invitation.
First off — do you have any experience with an international charity? Do you understand how such charities work, how they ensure credibility and effectiveness, what challenges such a charity faces, etc.? If not, this would be a good time to volunteer with such organizations. See what it takes to hold a successful fundraiser, through volunteering to support such activities. Then, once you are ready to start a nonprofit organization, you will have references and credibility that will be attractive to potential supporters.

The Nonprofit FAQs
Before you file any paperwork, you need to get letters of endorsement from existing organizations saying this program is needed (including organizations in the developing world where you intend the funds you raise to go), you need to have data that shows your target group is in need whatever service it is that you want to provide and that they are not served otherwise, and you need to have a draft of what your first year’s budget would look like (what expenses you expect to incur, what you expect to pay staff, etc.).
