Connecting Donors to Aid

How can you find a good charity to volunteer your time?

charity
katiegirl asked:

I’ve always wanted to get involved in charity work, which I’ve done before while in college, but it was always organized through my school, and am unsure how to become a volunteer for a good cause. I really don’t have any extra money to donate, but can make time for a good cause. I’ve always loved the Red Cross and I know they need volunteer’s, but I can’t stand the sight of blood!

Are there any websites out there that list charities in a specific area? And how to get involved?

Thanks!!

If you are in the UK your local radio station will have a community action desk where charities can ask for volunteers. Also your local Citizens Advice Bureau may have a list of organisations seeking volunteers. There are all sorts of things you could do:- work in a charity shop or museum, WRVS, League of Friends at your local hospital, etc

TD Jakes says, “the thing that makes you angry, is the thing you’re called to fix.” If you are passionate about abused animals, you know your heart is in volunteering at the animal shelter. If you are angry that children are hungry (while school cafeterias throw out enough to feed a third-world country every week) then you need to focus your energy on programs like food pantries. If you are still unsure, try different things until one of them ignites a fire in your heart that doesn’t go away.
    Networkforgood.org lists volunteer opportunities.
