How can I belong to a charity organization?

charity
Christy asked:

I would like to belong to some charity organization, but I don’t know how to do it, I would like to be part of a charity that goes to hospitals and helps kids with cancer and stuff like that. I live in Los angeles, so any organization that is local, but is known for doing a lot of good work is great. Thank you.
Ohh…..also, if you can, name the organization that YOU are a part of. Thank you

Decide whether you would like to give money or time and research local opportunities. Los Angeles has many, many good charitable, non profit organizations.

You can call the chamber of commerce or look on line or ask at church or go rifgt to a hospital because they already have volunteers to ask

Visit this website… wow, it looks fancy, don’t be intimidated by that, they do really good things. The chapter here visits the pediatric hospital… the Ladies take around a cart with books and booties, and all sorts of stuff to cheer them up. Associated with the Assistance League, in Texas anyway, are the Assisteens. We used to put on puppet shows for the children and then play with them for a little while which they loved.

Anyway, go to the contact section and send them an email, and let them know you are interested, ask for info, and other suggestions if they don’t do the kind of things you want to do.

    1) if you belong to a church – there is so many charity work there that you can join

    2) open your phone books and look for Salvation Army, Big Brother, Big Sister etc… a lot of charity that require volunteers

    3) use Yahoo search: keyin Charity Los Angeles. You will have more than enough work to last your life time

Well.. I commend you for your intention. The good news is that there are so many charities that are doing what you want to do.

The bad news is that you have to research and pick one, and go to the local chapter in your area.

Here are some charities that I contributed (that match your criteria).
    1. American Cancer Society

    2. Lukemia and Lymphoma Society

    3. Alex’s Lemonade (Funds go to children with cancer)

    4. Salvation Army

    5. Care (this is a global charity)

    6. American Red Cross

    7. UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund)

Good Luck! You’re on the right track!
