If you are lucky enough to have an Internet connection you are one of the wealthy people in the world! In the U.K. the average life expectancy is 80 years if you are female and 75 years for a male. 99% of the population are literate and 100% have access to clean water.

In the rest of the world the picture is not so good …

In the developing world a child dies needlessly every three seconds. This is due to a lack of things which we take for granted such as clean water, food, rudimentary health care and a home for shelter from the elements. In the U.K. the healthy outlook is not shared by all the population. More than one million children in Britain live in bad housing. More than one million homes in Britain are unfit for human habitation, but surprisingly more than 90 per cent of these are occupied.
